IKEDA INNOVATIONS

Software modernization services within a trusting remote-first culture

WHAT WE DO

Strategy and Business Development Consulting

Software Modernization Solutions and Consulting

Capture and Proposal Development

Who we are

No one leads by doing what everyone else does. Custom application development empowers organizations to capture unique data and implement distinctive processes for competitive differentiation. As every federal agency advances toward its implementation of the national Cloud Smart Strategy, each must consider its options to migrate legacy apps into commercial cloud environments. We are driven by our unique company culture and highly collaborative environment to support federal agencies in fulfilling their mission.

We believe it’s all about taking care of our customers, and to always seek the win-win. Making money is like breathing – essential to survive – but, “the purpose of business is to get and keep customers.” (Peter Drucker)

Our

Values

We care about the work we do, how we do it, and for whom. Our values are the cornerstone from which we operate.

COMPANY CULTURE

TRUST | THE FOUNDATION OF ALL RELATIONSHIPS

As an organization, we value trust as the foundation of healthy, productive, fruit-bearing relationships. We believe that without trust, there can be no collaborative partnership.

Trust is a two-way street earned through the demonstration of competence and character. It is both our ability to earn the trust of others and our ability to extend trust to others. Both are essential for a win-win dynamic.

We also believe in checks and balances. The very system designed into the US Government structurally distributes power. The balance of power is crucial to maintaining balance in government. “Trust but verify” is to validate trustworthiness and preserve a safe environment.

RESPECT | CREATES A CULTURE OF HONOR

Respect creates a culture of honor. We esteem others with high regard, honor, and excellence. We recognize that every person possesses talents and abilities regardless of background. Our aim is to help others discover, develop, and deploy these unique contributions.

We believe in respecting others by being patient and kind and taking responsibility for our words and actions. We respect the opinions of others, recognizing that creativity thrives in an environment of diverse perspectives.

COMMITMENT | FUELS PROGRESS TOWARDS GOALS

Commitment fuels progress toward our goals. We believe perseverance leads to greater achievements. The purpose of business is to get and keep customers (Peter Drucker), therefore we are first committed to satisfying our customers.

Second, we are committed to our employees. We are a team and believe that “None of us is as smart as all of us.” (Ken Blanchard) Therefore, we are committed to developing and supporting our fellow employees.

Third, we are committed to our communities. Commitment includes caring for people. “People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.” – John Maxwell

INTEGRITY | UNDERGIRDS HEALTH & LONGEVITY

Integrity manifests in the decisions we make when no one is watching. We believe that “good ethics are good business.” (Dr. J. Robert Beyster, SAIC founder), and that good moral character builds trust and creates an atmosphere where people can thrive. Integrity undergirds the health and longevity of our company.

TEAM & HISTORY

Ikeda Innovations was birthed in 2019, but the history of their team starts much before then. Founder, Kevin Ikeda and Director of Software Development, Jacob Smith worked together at SAIC and both started their own companies...

Kevin Ikeda

Founder

Kevin Ikeda is passionate about creating cultures that empower people to realize their full potential. His business experience spans from entrepreneurial startups to VP at a Fortune 500 company; from commercial markets to government services. Through it all, he specializes in shepherding technology portfolios, growing collaborative customer relationships, developing untapped potential and positioning people in their areas of strength. His hobbies include transformation projects, grilling, and woodworking. He also enjoys being outdoors taking care of his lawn and occasionally playing drums in a worship band.

KEVIN’S RESUME

1985-1993

Lync Systems

Co-founder

With thoughts that the advent of MTV and the Musicial Instrument Digital Information (MIDI) would move the keyboardist to the front of the stage, Kevin and his team built a keytar prototype, sent it to a big name band’s rehearsal and received positive feedback. Thus began Lync Systems in 1985 to design and build over-the-shoulder keyboard controllers also known as keytars. They attracted high six figures of private investment, and sold to musicians with top bands. Kevin told his Dad, “I may have earned a masters in EE, but I earned a Ph.D. in business from the University of Hard Knocks.”

1993-1997

Fischer & Porter

Senior Software Engineer

Kevin went upstairs to the marketing/sales department. His goal was to learn for whom he was designing the next product and why they needed it. Here he learned valuable information and insights in how to satisfy the customer.

1997-1998

InfoSolv Corporation

Director, Product Development

IT consulting startup company

1998-2019

SAIC

Java Developer | Program Manager | VP Division Manager | VP Software Practice

As VP of Software Solutions, Kevin led the software practice of 2,700+ employees, 170+ contracts in 90+ locations spanning DoD and Federal Civilian customers. He and his team developed and executed software modernization strategy across five technology directors. They also introduced innovations in recruiting, retention, and workforce development, exceeding revenue by $30M and headcount by 250. He shepherded internal R&D programs in three strategic technologies, introduced innovations to the college recruiting approach, and rolled out ubiquitous training program for major upskill across workforce.

2019-Present

Ikeda Innovations

Founder & CEO

In 2019, Kevin retired from SAIC after 21 years to start a new consulting firm, Ikeda Innovations, Inc.

The goal of this company is to provide management and software consulting in strategy and business development, capture and proposal development. They want to assist firms in developing and expanding their software development business and practice. This team is motivated to introduce innovations to under-performing processes and in turning around struggling business areas and programs.

Jacob Smith

Director of Software Development

Jacob Smith worked at SAIC for 13 years supporting the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). In 2016, he co-founded a web startup, Dvinr, as the CTO. After three years developing dvinr.com, he joined forces with Kevin to help companies with software modernization. His strengths are in front-end and back-end development, DevOps, and leading software development teams. Jacob is passionate about delivering high quality solutions to customers. To do so, he believes that a supportive, positive, motivated team culture is of utmost importance. In addition to experimenting with Docker, Node.JS and Cloud technologies, his hobbies include laughing with his kids, learning Japanese, playing guitar, and teaching his fingers to go to the right keys on the piano.
